The Badgers are losing one of their 2025 quarterback recruits less than two weeks after he signed.
On a busy day for the Wisconsin Badgers at the quarterback position, there was some unfortunate news on Monday evening, as 2025 signee Landyn Locke announced that he had de-committed from the program.
Locke seemingly was released from his National Letter of Intent and stated his recruitment as 100 percent open, despite signing with the Badgers on December 4th just 12 days prior.
Landyn Locke has de-committed from the #Badgers. Seems he’s been released from his NLI.
So both Locke brothers will be elsewhere in 2025.

The news came after Wisconsin landed two quarterbacks from the transfer portal on Monday, as San Diego State freshman Danny O’Neil and Maryland transfer Billy Edwards Jr. both committed to the program, adding depth and experience to the room.
Locke’s future was uncertain, as he was coming off a torn ACL sustained early during his senior season, while his brother, Braedyn Locke, had entered the transfer portal last week.
Now, both Lockes will play elsewhere next season, leaving the Badgers with four projected scholarship quarterbacks: Edwards, O’Neil, freshman Mabrey Mettauer, and 2025 four-star Carter Smith.
Barring any other changes, that is expected to be the quarterback room for the Badgers in 2025, with Edwards likely assuming the starting role, while O’Neil could be the frontrunner for the No. 2 spot with his experience as a true freshman.
