The Badgers will have to search for a new head coach this offseason.
Wisconsin Badgers women’s basketball head coach Marisa Moseley resigned on Sunday, UW Athletic Director Chris McIntosh announced.
Moseley had gone 47-75 in four losing seasons at Wisconsin, including a poor 21-51 record in Big Ten play, most recently bowing out in the first round of the Big Ten Tournament this past week.
“I notified Chris McIntosh of my decision to resign for personal reasons,” Moseley said in a statement. “It has been a privilege to lead the program at Wisconsin. I am grateful for the student-athletes, coaches and staff in our program who have put in so much time and effort. I am appreciative, also, of the Badger fans who supported us at the Kohl Center and around the country.”
The Badgers will conduct a national search for their next head coach, with associate head coach Margaret McKeon taking over the interim head coach duties in the meantime.
“Marisa informed me this past Friday that she would be stepping down,” McIntosh said. “I want to thank Marisa for the commitment she demonstrated as head coach of our women’s basketball program. She had a clear passion for coaching our student-athletes and she worked hard to bring success to our program. I wish her well as she transitions to the next chapter of her life.”
Earlier this year, Wisconsin announced that they were looking into allegations of mistreatment from former center Tessa Towers, who played for the program from 2022-24.
Several current and former players, including Wisconsin guard Tessa Grady, commented in support of Towers on her initial post.
Moseley came to Wisconsin after three seasons as the head coach at Boston University, where she had a 45-29 record, but was unable to turn things around here at Wisconsin with four losing seasons.
Wisconsin will now focus on their coaching search as the offseason begins.
