The Badgers are adding a nice touch to their 2024-25 schedule.
The Wisconsin Badgers announced that they’ll be playing at Omaha in their first game of the 2024-25 season on October 5th. The game will be played as an exhibition game.
The night comes with a nice touch for both sides, as Omaha will officially name their arena the Baxter Arena after their first head coach Mike Kemp, who was the head coach for the Mavericks during the 1996-97 season through 2009.
After that, Kemp became an administrator at the school, serving as one of the bigger figures in athletics for Omaha for over a decade.
Kemp was a longtime assistant coach for the Badgers in the 1980s and 1990s prior to his head coaching campaign at Omaha, so the exhibition between the two sides will have some significance that night for both teams as they kick off the 2024-25 season.
The Badgers are looking to continue rising after a highly successful 2023-24 season where the team won 26 games, their most since 2009-2010.
In doing so, Wisconsin is looking to earn consecutive NCAA tournament berths for the first time since the 2012-13 and 2013-14 seasons.
