The Badgers are hiring a current defensive coordinator to their coaching staff.
The Wisconsin Badgers are reportedly hiring Western Michigan defensive coordinator Scott Power as a defensive analyst, according to a report from FootballScoop.
Power would be the second assistant hired from Western Michigan this month, as the Badgers also added wide receivers coach Jordan Reid in the same role earlier in January.
Joining Western Michigan last March as the defensive coordinator and linebackers coach, Power has significant experience as a playcaller, as he held the same role at Louisiana Tech for two years, as well as at Stephen F. Austin for three years before that.
The Badgers haven’t made many moves to their defensive staff this offseason, only promoting Jack Cooper to safeties coach and Tuf Borland to assistant linebackers coach.
But, they’ve quietly made a few eye-catching moves, including adding a trio of former coordinators to their staff: offensive coordinator Jeff Grimes (Kansas), assistant wide receivers coach Blake Rolan (Southern Illinois), and now Power (Louisiana Tech).
Power adds to a very experienced coaching staff at Wisconsin, and could end up earning a senior defensive assistant or an assistant position coach role with the Badgers.
