The Badgers are getting in the race for a top 2025 quarterback recruit.
The Wisconsin Badgers had settled much of their 2025 recruiting class in the summer, as the team had a high success rate with targets on official visits, leading to over 20 commits before the fall.
One of the positions that seemed locked up was quarterback, as the Badgers landed an early commitment from three-star Landyn Locke, the brother of current starting quarterback Braedyn Locke.
However, they may not be done just yet, as one of their prior targets recently re-opened their recruitment. Earlier this week, four-star quarterback Carter Smith de-committed from the Michigan Wolverines, and the Badgers wasted no time in scheduling a visit with the top-100 recruit.

Smith is expected to visit for Wisconsin’s November 16th game against the Oregon Ducks in what could end up being yet another major recruiting event for the Badgers.
A native of Fort Myers, Florida, Smith would be a big addition to the team’s 2025 class, as the Badgers had been closed off with their quarterback recruiting since landing the younger Locke.
However, Locke tore his ACL this year, and the unexpected de-commitment of Smith has seemingly changed those plans, as Wisconsin is looking for more numbers at the position and doesn’t have a set plan for 2025.
Thus far, Smith has thrown for 1,091 yards, 11 touchdowns, and one interception, while completing 62 percent of his passes for Bishop Verot this season.
