The Badgers are starting to lose some names to the transfer portal.
The spring transfer portal window is officially open, and the Wisconsin Badgers are starting to see the effects, as several players have already put their names into the portal.
Wisconsin hasn’t traditionally been very active in the spring portal, but due to injuries and departures, it may be forced to this offseason.
Who is leaving and who is coming in?
Transfers Out
TE Tanner Koziol
Perhaps the most surprising loss thus far was tight end Tanner Koziol, who came in this offseason from Ball State.
After a solid first week of practices, Koziol wasn’t seen again in Madison, instead heading home and now officially entering the transfer portal on Wednesday.
WR Quincy Burroughs
A three-star recruit in the Class of 2022, Burroughs followed head coach Luke Fickell from Cincinnati to Wisconsin.
While displaying potential, he was never able to be a regular in the rotation and is moving on for his final two years of eligibility.
WR Mark Hamper
Another surprise, the Badgers are losing wideout Mark Hamper to the transfer portal just months after he joined from Idaho.
Hamper wasn’t there for much of spring ball, as he had gone home due to a ‘personal’ reason, according to a report. Now, he’s looking elsewhere after being a redshirt freshman in 2024.
OL Derek Jensen
Just one year after joining the Badgers as a four-star offensive tackle prospect, Jensen is heading to the transfer portal.
An in-state recruit, Jensen hadn’t been there at all with the Badgers this spring, according to head coach Luke Fickell.
