The Badgers are still seen high in the AP Top 25 despite an ugly loss over the weekend.
Despite an ugly loss to the Oregon Ducks over the weekend, the Wisconsin Badgers remained put at No. 11 in the AP Top 25, keeping their highest rank of the season for the second straight week.
It was an up-and-down week for the Badgers, as they had a strong 95-74 win over the Illinois Fighting Illini, which followed up a quality road victory over the Purdue Boilermakers. However, then came the loss to Oregon, where Wisconsin blew a 17-point lead in the overtime loss by unraveling in the final minutes.
Now, the Badgers stand at 21-6 and 11-5 in conference play, which is fourth in the Big Ten behind Michigan State (13-3), Michigan (12-3), and Maryland (11-5).
It was a week of serious movement inside the top 15 of the AP Top 25. Michigan State jumped up six spots to No. 8 after their strong week, while Iowa State and Texas Tech each dropped a spot to No. 9 and No. 10 after their respective losses.
With Texas A&M falling five spots to No. 12, the Badgers remained put at No. 11, and are now the second-highest-ranking Big Ten team.
Behind Michigan State and Wisconsin, Michigan (No. 15), Maryland (No. 16), and Purdue (No. 20) round out the remaining ranked Big Ten teams. Michigan fell three spots after their loss to Michigan State, Maryland continued to jump moving up four spots, and Purdue fell after losing by 15 to Indiana.
Next up, the Badgers have a bounce-back game on Tuesday, as they’ll host the Washington Huskies before heading out on the road this weekend for a road contest against the Michigan State Spartans, which could be a game with huge Big Ten implications.
