One of the Badgers cornerbacks is headed to join a former assistant.
The Wisconsin Badgers saw a mass exodus at cornerback this offseason, as a number of players either entered the transfer portal or ran out of eligibility, leaving the team with some depth concerns heading into 2025.
One of those departures was redshirt freshman Jace Arnold, who was close to cracking the two-deep at the field cornerback position this season, but never found himself earning the requisite playing time behind players like Ricardo Hallman and RJ Delancy.
As a result, after just two seasons with the team, Arnold, like many others, entered the transfer portal in search of a new home.
Well, the redshirt freshman has a new destination, and it’s with a familiar face: Phil Longo, the former Badgers offensive coordinator who is now the head coach at Sam Houston State.
Arnold, a native of Georgia, was one of 25 transfers out of the program, and now becomes the second player to transfer to Sam Houston State this offseason, joining 2024 four-star quarterback Mabrey Mettauer.
With his departure, the Badgers are left with just three players from their 15-recruit 2023 class.
