The Badgers are losing one of their point guards to the transfer portal.
Wisconsin Badgers point guard Camren Hunter is entering the transfer portal after one season, according to League Ready.
Hunter, a transfer from Central Arkansas last offseason, played in just 11 games this season, seeing 2.1 minutes per contest. He did not play during the 2023-24 season after suffering a season-ending injury, but was expected to compete for the starting point guard job at Wisconsin upon transferring to the program.
However, Hunter had a slower acclimation and ultimately was beaten out by Kamari McGee, while Wisconsin didn’t go with a traditional point guard in its starting lineup, limiting opportunities for the transfer.
Back during the 2022-23 season, Hunter averaged 16.9 points, 5.0 rebounds, and 3.9 assists for Central Arkansas, starting all 30 games during his sophomore year.
He’ll now look for his third destination in three years, having played only 11 games over the past two seasons.
As for the Badgers, they have quite a few scholarship spots to fill, as they’ll lose six seniors this offseason. Hunter is the first player to reportedly enter the transfer portal for Wisconsin this offseason.
