The Badgers senior earned three Player of the Year Awards this past season.
Wisconsin Badgers outside hitter Sarah Franklin had herself a phenomenal season year in which she earned Player of the Year awards: Big Ten, AVCA Northeast Region, and AVCA National Player of the Year.
In doing so, she became just the second player in program history to be named to the prestigious list of honorees of AVCA National Player of the Year behind Dana Rettke, who accomplished the feat in 2021.
Well, Franklin could be adding to her personal hardware once again, as she has been nominated for the 2024 ESPYs for the best college athlete in women’s sports.
Franklin joins a group of four student-athletes to be nominated for the award alongside Haleigh Bryant (LSU gymnastics), Caitlin Clark (Iowa women’s basketball), and Izzy Scane (Northwestern Lacrosse).
Franklin becomes the third athlete in Badger athletics history to be nominated for an ESPY as a current student-athlete, joining Blake Geoffrion, who was a 2010 nominee for Best Male College Athlete, and Frank Kaminsky, who was a 2015 nominee for Best Male College Athlete.
The award will be announced as a part of the 2024 ESPYS on Thursday, July 11th at the Dolby Theater in Los Angeles, California.
