The Badgers finally landed a longtime target from the transfer portal.
The Wisconsin Badgers have landed a commitment from LSU Tigers transfer defensive lineman Jay’Viar Suggs, he announced on Friday.
Big one for the #Badgers. Wanted Suggs last year in the transfer portal, but went to LSU.

Suggs, a 6’3, 295-pound defensive lineman, had 10 tackles and 2.5 sacks in 2024 for the Tigers after transferring in from Grand Valley State last offseason.
A space-eater for LSU, Suggs was a productive piece along the defensive line for the Tigers and seemed set to earn even playing time in Baton Rouge this season.
Nonetheless, he entered the transfer portal for his final year of eligibility and committed to the Badgers, one offseason after they tried to pursue him as a transfer from Grand Valley State.
In committing to Wisconsin, Suggs reunites with coach Matt Mitchell, who was his head coach at Grand Valley State, and provides a major veteran piece for the Badgers defensive line room, which has undergone major changes this offseason.
Suggs is the fourth defensive lineman to transfer to Wisconsin this winter, joining Tulane transfer Parker Peterson, Western Michigan transfer Corey Walker, and UT-Martin transfer Charles Perkins.
Wisconsin has also added outside linebackers Mason Reiger (Louisville transfer) and Micheal Garner (Grambling State transfer) to bolster their defensive front, which should look much different in 2024.
Now, they have a big piece up the middle who should be one of the team’s top contributors along the defensive line in 2025.
