The Badgers guard was one of the best players in the conference this season.
As expected, Wisconsin Badgers guard John Tonje was named a unanimous All-Big Ten first team selection on Tuesday, as the Big Ten announced its conference awards.

Tonje, a sixth-year senior, was the catalyst of one of the best Wisconsin offenses in program history, averaging 18.9 points and 5.1 rebounds per game, while shooting 46 percent from the field and 37.8 percent from three.
Tonje’s 18.9 points per game ranked sixth in the conference, while he made the most free throws per game (6.0), attempted the second-most free throws (6.5), and knocked down the second-highest rate (91.6 percent).
The senior came from Missouri, where he played in just eight games last year while dealing with injuries, and was a seamless fit with the Badgers, given his shooting and slashing ability.
Late in the season, Tonje even was a strong contender for Big Ten Player of the Year alongside Purdue’s Braden Smith, who ultimately won the award.
But, the star guard is a unanimous All-American, as voted by the coaches and the media, being a key reason for Wisconsin’s success in 2024.
