The Badgers have scheduled a visit with a transfer portal tight end.
The Wisconsin Badgers had a tough loss earlier this week, as tight end Tanner Koziol entered the transfer portal just months after transferring in from Ball State.
It was a surprising loss for the Badgers, as Koziol was expected to play a major role as the team’s top tight end. However, he hadn’t been at practice recently and is heading out the door, leaving a hole on the roster.
Well, Wisconsin isn’t wasting any time, as they are setting a visit with Missouri State transfer tight end Lance Mason, who was the top pass-catching tight end at the FCS level last year.
Mason, a 6’4, 240-pound tight end, caught 34 passes for 590 yards and six touchdowns, earning him the top PFF pass-catching grade among FCS players in 2024.
Wisconsin is one of three teams to get a visit from Mason so far, according to 247Sports, joining Cal and Oklahoma.

All three teams are in need of a tight end, as Cal just lost starter Jack Endries, Oklahoma has seen several departures, and Wisconsin lost Koziol.
The Badgers would get an experienced pass-catcher in the room if they’re able to land Mason, who could form a solid duo with Tucker Ashcraft, who has been in the No. 1 tight end role for the past two weeks.
It’s early in the spring transfer portal window, but it seems that the Badgers are looking for a Koziol replacement, with Mason being a possibility.
