The Badgers are losing their fourth player to the transfer portal.
The Wisconsin Badgers got more transfer portal news on Friday, as freshman guard Aidan Konop announced his intentions to enter the transfer portal.
A preferred walk-on from Sussex, Wisconsin, Konop joined the Badgers ahead of the 2024-25 season. As a senior at Sussex High, the guard averaged 20 points, six rebounds, four assists, and two steals per game, shooting over 50 percent from the field and 40 percent from three.
Konop suited up in four games with the Badgers, playing for a total of four minutes. He did not total a statistic.
He will now move on with three years of eligibility left.
The move clears up a roster spot, as Wisconsin is going to 15 total spots for basketball, which includes both walk-ons and scholarship players. The expectation is that the Badgers are going to have around two walk-ons per season, allocating the rest of their roster spots to scholarships.
Konop’s departure comes on the heels of Wisconsin’s second transfer portal commitment, as the Badgers landed Portland forward Austin Rapp on Friday as well. That followed the commitment of Virginia wing Andrew Rohde on Thursday, as the Badgers have started off hot in the portal.
