The Badgers four-star quarterback is joining a familiar face at his new school.
One of the more notable transfers for the Wisconsin Badgers this cycle was four-star true freshman Mabrey Mettauer, who elected to enter the transfer portal after just one season with the team.

Mettauer, a four-star recruit in the Class of 2024, was considered a top-10 pro-style signal-caller in the cycle by Rivals, and had been both the No. 2 and No. 3 quarterback on the depth chart this past season.
Well, he has found his next destination, returning back to his home state of Texas and reuniting with former offensive coordinator Phil Longo, who was recently named the head coach at Sam Houston State.
Mettauer instantly becomes a contender to earn the starting quarterback job at the Conference USA school, joining 2024 starter Hunter Watson, who threw for 1,811 yards, 12 touchdowns, and eight interceptions, while rushing for 647 yards and nine touchdowns on the ground.
The Badgers lost all of their scholarship quarterbacks to the transfer portal this offseason, as Mettauer, Braedyn Locke, Tyler Van Dyke, and Cole LaCrue all left to explore opportunities elsewhere.
Locke transferred to the Arizona Wildcats, and now Mettauer has found his next home, moving on to the Sam Houston State Bearkats.
