The Badgers are losing another rotational piece from the 2025 season.
The Wisconsin Badgers transfer portal carousel is continuing on, as junior forward Xavier Amos is entering the transfer portal.
Amos, a transfer from Northern Illinois last offseason, averaged 3.5 points and 1.8 rebounds in 9.7 minutes of action per game, shooting 37.4 percent from the field and 29.4 percent from three.
The Badgers had high hopes for the forward when landing him in the transfer portal, but he had a slower start in the offseason, fighting for a spot in the rotation.
But, as the season came along, Amos became one of the power forwards in the rotation, backing up starter Nolan Winter as a stretch-four. His confidence continued to increase as the year went on, scoring 12 points in Wisconsin’s 88-62 win over Washington and 11 points in the Badgers’ first-round win over Montana.
However, questions started to arise about Amos’s role this offseason, as the Badgers began to retool their roster in the transfer portal. Those concerns only rose when Wisconsin landed Portland forward Austin Rapp in the transfer portal as a stretch four.
Now, Amos is in the transfer portal, and he’ll look for another opportunity for his final year of eligibility. He becomes the fourth transfer for the team this season, joining forward Chris Hodges and guards Daniel Freitag and Camren Hunter.
For the Badgers, Wisconsin essentially replaces the void left by Amos and senior forward Carter Gilmore with Rapp, who has three years of eligibility left.
But, they lose some valuable depth as another roster spot opens up for Wisconsin. Now, this is what Wisconsin’s scholarship distribution looks like:
Guards
Nick Boyd
John Blackwell
Jack Janicki
Andrew Rohde
Jack Robison
