The Badgers got themselves a key starter in the transfer portal on Monday evening.
The Wisconsin Badgers had a busy Monday in the transfer portal, racking up commitments from six players, including the likes of Richmond safety Matthew Traynor, who was in on an official visit this past weekend.
And news isn’t stopping yet.

Traynor, a redshirt freshman in 2024, had 69 tackles, 4.5 tackles for loss, three pass breakups, and two interceptions as a starter this past season, enjoying a breakout year/
The 6’1, 200-pound safety is a major addition, as he’ll project to serve as the replacement for star safety Hunter Wohler, with Wisconsin needing reinforcements in the secondary after losing a number of key pieces.
The Badgers had just two projected returners at safety under scholarship: Austin Brown and Raphael Dunn. Brown was expected to take one of the top roles, but there was a clear void next to him and Traynor could very well be that player.
So far, Wisconsin has lost Wohler, Kamo’i Latu, Braedyn Moore, and Justin Taylor from the safety room, while there’s been no indication whether Preston Zachman will use his sixth year of eligibility and return.
Traynor comes to Madison with three years of eligibility remaining, which is significant for the room, and will now join a younger group that could also rely on their 2025 recruits to crack the two-deep as freshmen.
