The River Falls native could be one of the bigger targets for the Badgers in the junior class.
The Wisconsin Badgers got involved early for 2026 in-state offensive lineman Samuel Simpson, offering him in early June, which was only the second in-state offer that the Badgers have extended in the class.
Simpson, a 6’4, 285-pound lineman from River Falls, Wisconsin, had previously earned an offer from Kansas in late May before the Badgers became his second scholarship opportunity.
Following the offer, Simpson came down to campus and camped with the Badgers later in June, as he got to meet with offensive line coach A.J. Blazek and showcase his skills.
How was the experience for the lineman?
“The camp experience was pretty relaxed,” Simpson shared. “I was fortunate to have already earned an offer so that took some pressure off. I thought I showed them some of what they hoped to see as far as footwork, leverage, and work ethic.”
Being one of the first in-state offers was an “exciting” feeling for Simpson, as it showed the team’s confidence in him, with the lineman having excitement for the future and the possibility of being a Badger.
It’s still early in the recruitment process for Simpson, who has been connecting with a number of coaches and has kept the same mindset throughout in regards to his work ethic.
“I don’t really have an approach to recruitment. It is still brand new to me. I appreciate the time all the coaches are spending contacting me. I know that I am very fortunate to have an opportunity to play college football and I don’t take that for granted. I know I have to keep working hard.”
While summer baseball has been important, Simpson has been to camps at Iowa State, Wisconsin, Indiana, and South Dakota State as he prepares for the fall season.
One of the top recruits in Wisconsin in the Class of 2026, Simpson’s recruitment will be one to watch as he continues to garner interest from other schools.
