The Badgers coaching staff is starting to come together.
The Wisconsin Badgers made an intriguing hire for their women’s basketball program, tabbing former Missouri Tigers head coach Robin Pingeton as their new head coach.
Pingeton, who spent the past 15 years at Missouri before resigning earlier this year, has a career record of 584-372 across stops at Missouri, Illinois State, and St. Ambrose. At Missouri alone, she compiled a record of 250-218.
But, she had struggled to achieve consistent success recently, last making the NCAA Tournament in 2018-19, while going a combined 5-27 in SEC play over the last two seasons.
Now, she’ll head a rebuilding Wisconsin program that hasn’t made an NCAA Tournament since 2010, going through three different coaches since.
And her coaching staff is starting to come together, as the Badgers announced McGhee Mann and Chris Bracey as the first two assistants for Pingeton.
Both staffers were with the head coach at Missouri and are now coming along with her to Wisconsin, while another assistant hire can be expected.
Wisconsin has been busy in the transfer portal, as Pingeton noted in her introductory press conference, as they’re looking to rebuild their roster, and that’ll be the next steps for the team.
But, everything is slowly starting to come together for the Badgers women’s basketball team, who will hope to be more competitive with Pingeton at the helm compared to her predecessors.
