He’s definitely going to miss the Iowa State and Wisconsin games before getting a new evaluation on his recovery.
Before Marquette men’s basketball tipped off against Iowa State on Wednesday, the team provided an official update on sophomore guard Zaide Lowery. He had left Saturday’s game against Western Carolina very late with a leg injury and was not putting weight on his leg as he was helped to the locker room.
The update? He sprained his knee. We already knew that Lowery would miss the ISU game thanks to the intrepid reporting of Ben Steele from the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, and now the team has extended that to this coming Saturday’s game against Wisconsin.
Zaide Lowery (knee sprain) will miss the next two games (at Iowa State and vs. Wisconsin) and be re-evaluated late next week.#MUBB | #WeAreMarquette

The team also said that he will be re-evaluated “late next week.” I suspect that is code for “we will wait as long as possible before making a decision as to whether or not Lowery will play at Dayton on Saturday, December 14th.” Considering the level of emotion that he was displaying in the immediate wake of the injury, this is about the best possible result.
The good news is that Lowery is not ruled out of playing in that Dayton game right now. The bad news is obviously that he’s going to miss a road trip against the #6 team in the country and a home game against the #11 team in the country. It’s not ideal timing, but these things rarely work out in your favor, y’know?
Ben Steele also noted that Lowery is not even on crutches at Hilton Coliseum tonight.
Zaide Lowery is sans crutches here at Hilton Coliseum.
A knee sprain is probably the best news #mubb could have hoped for after he was in so much pain on Saturday.

The fact that the trainers are letting him go without crutches and the fact that he can manage without them are both good news as well.
And now we just watch and wait…..
