So. Not much going on today, huh?
18 games on national television today. It is LIGHT out there today. Yes, there’s some bowl games taking up space on ESPN Prime. However, the weird part about today’s national television schedule appears to be a consensus agreement that there’s no reason to put any games on after 7pm Central time. I guess there’s a thought process that there’s too much holiday party potential even though we’re dead in the middle between Christmas and New Year’s?
ANYWAY, the top game of note today is #22 UCLA and #14 Gonzaga hooking it up at the LA Clippers arena in Los Angeles. Why is it not at Pauley Pavilion? No idea! This is the only game with two ranked teams involved, so clear your schedule for 3pm CT today.
The only other game with a ranked team on the road is #16 Ole Miss visiting Memphis, and given the relative proximity of the two schools, I suspect there might be a decent number of Ole Miss fans in FedEx Forum. Might not be a real strong road environment.
The only Big East game of real interest is one of the four women’s basketball games on national TV today. Creighton heads to St. John’s for the front end of/only women’s game in a Fox tripleheader, which includes that UCLA/Gonzaga game as well as Utah State visiting #20 San Diego State. It’s a big spot for Joe Tartamella’s squad as they try to stake a claim to a quality win, while Jim Flanery’s Bluejays are already very much battle tested this season.
Oh, and why is Lady Reveille up at the top of the page? Because Abilene Christian is visiting Buzz Williams’ squad today and I wanted an excuse for a different mascot picture.
Here’s the full national television schedule for the day! All times Central, as always.
