18 games, only one tilt with Creighton and St. John’s, lots of Wednesdays and weekends.
Wednesday was Big East Schedule Release Day for women’s basketball! How did Marquette announce their schedule? With a little bit of artistic assistance from the sons of new head coach Cara Consuegra.

Here’s the schedule in helpful table format!
Here’s what you need to know about the schedule:
- Yep, only dates and opponents. Fox Sports is still finalizing the TV details for men’s basketball, so no surprise that we don’t have start times or any TV assignments for women’s hoops either.
- And yes, only Fox Sports, with CBS Sports Network getting a sublicense and SNY covering any non-national broadcasts for UConn. The official Big East press release doesn’t have any mention of any games on Peacock like the men’s side does this season, so we’ll wait til next year on Peacock and Turner Sports for women’s basketball.
- Yep, 18 game schedule, just like last year, so it’s not a full round robin. Eight opponents are on the schedule home-and-home, and two opponents are only on there once. For Marquette, the two solo opponents are at Creighton and home against St. John’s.
- Almost everything on this schedule is on Wednesday or either Saturday or Sunday. Five Saturday games, four Sunday games, eight Wednesday games…… and one Thursday, for Senior Night at home against Xavier in the second to last game.
- Marquette will get a full week off in the middle of January in between a home game against Seton Hall and on the road against Providence. They’ll also get a late season five day stretch without a game between at Georgetown and that home date against Xavier on a Thursday.
- Marquette’s home game against UConn is on New Year’s Day. Upside: Lots of people with the day off to attend the game. Downside: Class is out of session, so filling the student sections might be a challenge. Upside: More than a few students tend to come back to campus for New Year’s Eve parties, so maybe MU catches a break with an afternoon start. There’s a four-pack of games on the schedule that day, so we’ll see how TV ends up dealing with that.
- This isn’t a Big East schedule note, but in the process of putting this together, I did notice that Marquette has posted start times for their home non-conference games. Go check that out.
