Didn’t watch a single second of it, because why bother?
I got in my car at just after 6pm, I tuned the radio to ESPN Milwaukee, I heard Villanova take an 11-2 lead by the time I had moved my car from the parking spot to the exit of the parking structure.
I turned it off.
Stopped at a red light at the big intersection near my house, I popped my phone open to the ESPN app. Marquette down 14.
I got home, my son had the game on TV, Villanova scored to go up 15, would have been in the neighborhood of 8 minutes and change left in the game. I told him that if he wanted to watch the game, he could watch it on his iPad, I had no intention of watching this mess.
I tinkered with the AE front page a little bit, I checked the score before I walked away from the desktop computer at home. Marquette down 46-33 at the half, Villanova shooting 80% on threes, 12-for-15, in the first 20 minutes.
I watched Conclave, which is available on Peacock. It’s good! You should watch it!
I told my son to only let me know what was happening in the game if Marquette took the lead. After all, Villanova just had that hilarious collapse against UConn on Tuesday. He never said a word, closed up his iPad, and put his earbuds away.
I presume I have just as much understanding of what the hell exactly happened at Wells Fargo Center as anyone who was watching that game from a blue and gold perspective, and that might actually include the coaching staff seeing as the box score tells me that David Joplin, Stevie Mitchell, and Ben Gold played a combined 49 minutes.
We’re skipping the usual highlight drop in from YouTube because I refuse to believe that game had highlights.
Up Next: Marquette returns to action on Tuesday when they welcome Providence to Fiserv Forum. Tipoff is scheduled for 6pm Central, and FS1 will have the broadcast. The Friars lost by 21 to Georgetown on Wednesday night and their visit to Milwaukee will be their next game after that.
