Marquette returns to postseason play for the first time since 2022.
With regular season play completed as of Friday night, the Big East wasted no time in releasing the official bracket for the 2025 men’s lacrosse conference tournament.
Georgetown picked up a 17-9 victory over Villanova on the final day of regular season action to force a tie for the regular season championship with the Wildcats with both teams at 4-1. The head-to-head victory gives the Hoyas the edge for the #1 seed and places the Wildcats as the #2 seed. Providence defeated St. John’s 16-10 in their finale to move to 3-2 in league action and lock up the #3 seed.
Finally, YOUR Marquette Golden Eagles secured an 18-11 victory over Denver for the first regular season win over the Pioneers in program history, and that moved both of those squads to 2-3 in conference games. Marquette had the head-to-head win from that result, so the Golden Eagles are the #4 seed and the Pioneers see their season come to an end without reaching the Big East tournament for the first time since joining the conference as an affiliate member.
The conference tournament semifinals will take place on Thursday, May 1 with Denver hosting a tournament that they are not participating in. We can’t laugh that hard, because that’s exactly what happened to Marquette in 2023. CBS Sports Network will carry all three games of the tournament, with Thursday’s winners advancing to the championship game on Saturday, May 3.
