Marquette ended up as the #5 seed in the 11 team field.
The Big East announced the bracket for the 2025 men’s basketball conference tournament pretty much as soon as they could on Saturday night, once the Butler/Creighton regular season finale was wrapped up.
St. John’s is the #1 seed and regular season champion with a record of 18-2 in conference play, finishing three games ahead of second place Creighton. The Red Storm and the Bluejays are joined in a bye to the quarterfinal round of the tournament by Connecticut, Xavier, and Marquette, all in that seed order. The remaining six teams will square off in a tripleheader of action in what the league is calling the First Round of the tourney.
Marquette is the #5 seed in the tournament after finishing the regular season with a record of 13-7. That leaves them in a tie with Xavier for fourth place in the Big East, but MU and XU split their season series and the Musketeers picked up a 76-72 victory over UConn on January 25th to create a separation in how the two teams got to 13-7 as opposed to MU falling twice to the Huskies.
That pairs off Marquette and Xavier in the 4/5 game, which will be on Thursday, March 13, at Madison Square Garden. Tipoff is scheduled for 1:30pm Central time, but that’s pending the end of the St. John’s quarterfinal game opening up the day’s action. Marquette/Xavier will be broadcast exclusively on Peacock, so hopefully you’ve still got your subscription running after the Georgetown game back on March 1st.
Here’s the full schedule for the 2025 Big East men’s basketball conference tournament.
