There wasn’t much left to talk about after a 10-0 run by the Golden Eagles in the first quarter.
Sometimes in non-conference play, a college basketball team has a game where all you can do a the end is say, “hey, when exactly was that over?” I think Marquette securing an 87-42 win over Stonehill on Saturday afternoon qualifies in that regard.
Quick answer? When Skylar Forbes scored six of her career high 25 during a 10-0 run by Marquette in the first quarter. 9-6 Marquette when the run started, 19-6 Marquette when the run ended. It ended up being 24-10 MU when the quarter ended, and in retrospect, that’s pretty over right there.
If you wanted to argue that it was the 10-0 run in the second quarter as the ending point, as that ended with MU up 35-12, that’s pretty solid, too. Forbes was the leader there as well, although she had just four points, with Lee Volker, Jaidynn Mason, and Olivia Porter each chipping in two.
It was 42-16 at the half, and 64-32 at the end of the third quarter. We’ll accept either one of those as answers, as well as when MU hit their largest lead of the game. That was with 2:54 remaining, as Aryelle Stevens put Marquette up 52, 85-33. But it was probably long before that, right?
Forbes added 10 rebounds to her career high in scoring for her second double-double of the season and of her career. Halle Vice added 15, and Lee Volker had a nice all around contest with 10 points, six rebounds, three assists, and two steals. Olivia Porter and Abbey Cracknell tied for the team lead in assists with five each as MU assisted on 27 of their 34 buckets in this one.

We gotta do something about the brightness level on those cameras, because it looks like this was shot through a sepia filter.
Up Next: Marquette will be off for over a week after wrapping up (Christmas phrase) non-conference action here, and then they’ll reconvene after Christmas to open up Big East play. First up in that 18 game quest is DePaul, and MU will start things off on the road in Chicago on December 29th. Tipoff there is set for 2pm Central, and FloSports will have the broadcast. The Blue Demons are 6-8 on the year but 1-0 in Big East action after knocking off Butler at home, 66-43, on Saturday.
