If you’ve got a dollar to wager responsibly, here’s the odds that you’re looking at on Sunday night from FanDuel.
In case you missed it, YOUR Marquette Golden Eagles men’s basketball team is a #7 seed in the 2025 NCAA tournament. That sets them up for a first round game on Friday, March 21 against #10 seed New Mexico. That game will be played in Cleveland, Ohio, at 6:35pm Central time, with Spero Dedes, Jim Spanarkel, and Jon Rothstein calling the action on TBS.
Marquette is 23-10 this season after finishing tied for fourth in the Big East at 13-7 and falling to regular season champion and eventual tournament champion St. John’s in the Big East tournament semifinals. New Mexico is the regular season champion out of the Mountain West Conference after going 17-3 in the league to get to 26-7 on the year in the fourth season under the direction of head coach Richard Pitino.
FanDuel has the lines out for the first round of the tournament already, and they’ve got the Golden Eagles favored. As of 10pm Sunday night, the line is Marquette -3.5. If you’re more of an combined over/under kind of gambler, then you’re looking at +/- 152.5. As a moneyline wager, I’m seeing Marquette -166 and New Mexico +138.
There’s odds on Marquette to win the South Region, aka reach the Final Four as well. FanDuel has that at +2300 right now, which is the eighth best odds in the region. #8 seed Louisville is the team that jumped Marquette in line, and they’re currently showing odds of #1900, fifth best in the region.
If you want to really get crazy with it, FanDuel will give you +16,000 odds on Marquette winning the national championship at the moment. It’s almost like they’re giving the money away, to be honest.
