DALLAS — Marquette men’s basketball is playing its first Sweet 16 game in 11 years.
The Golden Eagles can keep their March Madness run alive when they face 11th seeded NC State Friday night at the American Airlines Center.
Marquette’s “Big Three” of Kam Jones, Oso Ighodaro and Tyler Kolek are looking to lead the program to its first Elite Eight appearance since 2013. The Wolfpack are led by 6-foot-9 big man DJ Burns Jr. and graduate guard DJ Horne.

Marquette struggling to hit shots early
Marquette went 0-for-10 from deep before making a three.
Kam Jones finally hit one at the 7:15 mark of the half to end the drought, but the Golden Eagles heard clank after clank after clank.
It meant that NC State went into the under-8 media timeout with a 26-19 lead after sparking a 6-0 run to put Marquette firmly on the back foot.
The Wolfpack shot 11-for-22 and 3-for-10 from deep after the first 15 minutes.
