We circled back to make sure we snagged everyone that Shaka Smart and his staff reached out to on the first day of contact with this recruiting class.
We already did a huuuuuuuge rundown of the very first Class of 2026 prospects that Marquette men’s basketball reached out to on the first day of being able to initiate contact. Well, more accurately, it was a list of the first names that got out into the public, not a confirmed rundown of Marquette’s actual call sheet.
With that in mind, let’s do a little bit of mop up/follow-up work today. Maybe these guys were further up the chain but the tweets just came later on. Who can say? Maybe we’ll see some of these guys end up wearing blue and gold in two years.
Cody Peck
The initial college programs to officially reach out to ‘26 Cody Peck (@cody_peck1211):
LSU
Dayton
Northwestern
Ohio State
Marquette
Louisville
Clemson
Virginia Tech
Presbyterian
Columbia
Liberty
Old Dominion
Tennessee State
Boise State

Xavier
NC State

247 Sports lists Cody Peck as a 6’9”, 180 pound center. No ratings or rankings for the North Carolinian, who attends Carmel Christian School. I do want to point out that when I Google Searched for “cody peck 247” the first link that came up was actually to this On3 article, which explains why they have Peck at #85 in the country already and no one else is bothering to rank him at all yet.
Darius Bivins
Top-50 2026 prospect Darius Bivins tells me that these schools are the latest to reach out to him since yesterday:
Providence
Iowa
George Mason
Liberty
Rutgers
UT Arlington
Marquette
Virginia Tech
Stanford
Old Dominion
Towson
BYU
Georgia tech
Notre Dame
St. Joe’s pic.twitter.com/wcOddrKVHM— Recruits Zone (@recruitszone) June 16, 2024
247 Sports has Bivins as a 5’10”, 160 pound point guard out of Alexandria, Virginia. No ratings or rankings for him there, but the top 50 mention in the tweet comes from ESPN, where he’s #46 in the country and a four-star prospect.
LaTrevion Fenderson
2026 prospect LaTrevion Fenderson tells me that he has heard from the following schools since the initial contact period began:
Iowa State
Marquette
Western Michigan
Appalachian State pic.twitter.com/CnmBkI0MgF— Recruits Zone (@recruitszone) June 16, 2024
From what I can tell, it seems that Fenderson recently-ish had a reclassification to 2026. WisSports.net lists him as a junior for the 2023-24 season at The Prairie School as he earned all-state honors, which would of course make him a 2025 prospect. Does that mean he’s staying at Prairie for a post-grad year? Prep school somewhere else because of WIAA eligibility rules? Don’t know, but that’s what the situation looks like right now.
247 Sports lists him as the 9th best prospect in Wisconsin for the Class of 2025, which would be #245 nationally. He’s a 6’4”, 205 pound small forward, but we’ll have to keep an eye on what happens to his ratings and so on when they update him to 2026.
Christian Wiggins
Wayzata/D1 Minnesota 2026 SG Christian Wiggins has heard from the following schools since they’ve been allowed to call:
Iowa
Iowa State
Marquette
Minnesota
Northern Iowa
St Louis
Stanford
Utah
Appalachian St
Wisconsin pic.twitter.com/3N1SSi15W3— Ryan James (@RyanJamesMN) June 16, 2024
Shouts to Lauren Houg.
Wiggins is listed as a 6’3”, 170 pound shooting guard out of Minnesota by 247 Sports. No ratings or rankings at this time for him.
Warren Keel
2026 Point Guard, Warren Keel Jr. tells us he has heard from the following schools since yesterday:
Ohio St
Texas A&M
Boston College
Virginia Tech
West Virginia
Marquette
Rutgers
Richmond
Towson
St. Bonaventure
UMass
Elon
Albany
Rice
UMBC
+ Several more@warrenkjr_— 365 Recruits (@365_Recruits) June 16, 2024
We return again to the New England prep school scene here, as Keel attends Bradford Christian Academy in Massachusetts. The 5’9”, 150 pound point guard is clearly a gifted athlete, as it can’t be easy for a guy of his size to make enough of an impact this early with scouts to get ranked #73 in the 247 Sports Composite and #78 in their internal system.
Tyler Jones
2026 prospect Tyler Jones tells me that he has heard from the following schools since the contact period began:
Memphis
Radford
Austin Peay
Bradley
Tennessee State (previous offer)
Marquette
Liberty pic.twitter.com/HMW0vu2XNW— Recruits Zone (@recruitszone) June 17, 2024
In the process of making sure I had the right Tyler Jones, I found his Instagram, which has the same picture you see above. You know who’s following him? Marquette guard Kam Jones. Why? Because Tyler was attending the same high school as Kam. In any case, Prep Hoops says he’s a 6’3” combo guard, and it appears he’ll be transferring to a prep school in North Carolina for his junior year.
