The Golden Eagles will face the Hoosiers at the United Center in Chicago on November 9, 2025.
We had a report on this about a week ago, and as of Wednesday morning, it’s official: Marquette will face Indiana in a men’s basketball game at the United Center. The game is set for November 9, 2025, and here’s how the official Marquette press release explains what’s going on:
The Gazelle Group is pleased to announce one of the NCAA’s all-time winningest programs Indiana and BIG EAST contender No. 16/15 Marquette will compete on November 9th, 2025 at the United Center in Chicago, Illinois.
The Hoosiers and Golden Eagles will each have two home games as a part of the event.
Tickets and television details will be announced at a later date.
Okay, so a few things:
The Gazelle Group mention right off the top means that Marquette and Indiana have sold the game to the sports marketing firm, and so now they’re in charge of getting this thing on television since it’s not a home game for either side. This shouldn’t be terribly complicated, unlike MU’s game in the Bahamas against Georgia this year, as November 9th is a Sunday, and I’d imagine that FS1 or NBC should have enough free airspace to put a college hoops game on opposite NFL football. I suppose ESPN is a possibility here, but since neither the Big East nor the Big Ten have a partnership with The World Wide Leader In Sports at the moment, I wouldn’t expect it to come through.
The 2025-26 season will start on Monday, November 3, 2025, so this game against the Hoosiers will come on the first Sunday of the season. Since the game at the United Center is technically the culmination of a multi-team event with MU and IU playing two home games, I would expect said home games to come in the first week of the season. Something like Monday/Thursday for both teams, perhaps with the two trading opponents for Game 1 and Game 2? We’ll have to wait to see what happens there, as there’s no locked in announcement on that yet.
The press release does include this link for you to drop your email address if you’re interested in getting tickets to the game at the United Center. I would presume this will be a situation where season ticket holders get early access, but I put my address in juuuuuuust to be on the safe side. No mention of possible pricing or anything like that either, but putting yourself on the mailing list doesn’t commit you to anything, either.
Finally, I just want to point out the comedy value of how the press release is framing this game. “One of the NCAA’s all-time winningest programs” vs “BIG EAST contender” is the phrasing. “Good at some point in the past” vs “actually good right now,” and given the fact that we already know that Indiana will have a coaching change after the end of this current season, that’s probably the best way to go about selling this contest.
Stay tuned for updates as they happen……
