AND NOW, THE LAST WHAT TO WATCH OF THE SEASON
St. John’s has clinched the outright Big East men’s basketball regular season title by way of a three game lead over Marquette and Creighton with just one game left to play. Georgetown, Butler, Providence, DePaul, and Seton Hall are already locked in to play in the opening day tripleheader of the Big East tournament.
Seeds #2 through #6 — and thus that last bye to the quarterfinals at the #5 seed — are still up for grabs. As such, every game involving those five teams this week is still notable. I should point out that Marquette and Creighton have locked themselves into the quarterfinals already. UConn, Xavier, and Villanova are fighting for that last bye right now, and keep in mind that Villanova holds the tiebreaker over the Huskies because 1) those two teams split the season series and 2) UConn got swept by St. John’s while Villanova went 1-1.
Anyway, here’s the schedule for all five teams this week, going in order according to the official Big East standings on Sunday morning:

Wednesday, March 5: at Connecticut, 7:30pm Central, FS1
Saturday, March 8: vs St. John’s, 11am Central, Fox
Creighton
Tuesday, March 4: at Seton Hall, 6pm Central, FS1

Villanova

The Marquette/Connecticut game is the only one between two teams on this list. That means that these seeds are going to be decided by the teams outside the list because, for example, Butler jumping up and taking two wins is going to alter the whole thing. It’s also worth noting that a lot of the mystery could evaporate if Villanova — currently in sixth place and in need of help more than anyone — loses at Georgetown in their regular season finale on Tuesday night.
