A visit to campus pays off for Cara Consuegra in the Class of 2026.
Twitter’s generally speaking a Hell Site, but there is a use for it. One of those uses? Finding out over a week later that Marquette women’s basketball picked up a Class of 2026 commitment from Se’Crette Carter!
After an awesome visit with @cconsuegra I’m excited to announce my Commitment to @MarquetteU and continue my academic and athletic career thank you for this opportunity. Let’s Go Golden Eagles @MarquetteWBB @MICROSSOVER @VilleLadyTigers @LBInsider @NikeGirlsEYBL pic.twitter.com/KdLw3t9t30

Prep Girls Hoops lists Carter at 5’8” tall, and Max Preps says she’s a shooting guard from Belleville, Michigan. Details about Carter’s statistics and so on haven’t changed that much since she first popped on the AE radar, but this is a recent note about her play on the EYBL circuit this summer. Shouts to Synergy.

There’s still a long time to go between now and when Carter is actually going to arrive on campus in 2026, but if she’s already got a handle on knocking down long range shots, that’s pretty good.
Carter picked up her offer from Marquette back in mid-June of this year, which is definitely a pretty short length of time in terms of how long MU was officially recruiting her. We obviously don’t believe that was the entirety of the timeframe, since Cara Consuegra had to make the decision to make the offer in the first place. With that said, it’s not like Carter has a note in her Twitter that shows that Consuegra was recruiting her at Charlotte and thus building that relationship for a long time. Heck, it appears the only offer that’s come in for Carter since MU got on the board was from Hampton. It would also appear that MU wasn’t exactly battling it out in the trenches with other Power Five programs for Carter’s commitment. Notable Recruiting Honk Raoul over on the Twitter Machine notes that her other offers were Detroit Mercy, Nebraska-Omaha, and Western Michigan.
Maybe Cara Consuegra got in the door early and found a special talent before anyone else. A secret, if you will.
I will not apologize for that.
And now, the new scholarship chart….. which is admittedly starting to look a little weird.
This is what happens when you’re going to play 2024-25 without any freshmen and you already have a 2025 and a 2026 commitment. Things flatten out real quick on the chart. It’s way too early to try to figure out how Carter might fit into the roster when she arrives at Marquette in 2026-27, as right now, she projects as just one of six players on the roster….. and one of the other five is 2025 commit Kameron Herring.
