Tracking the larger sentiments of Bucks fans week by week
On Sunday, the Bucks played their 41st game of the season, marking the halfway point. At 24-17, that’s a 48-win pace and four games off last year at this time (which was a 56-win pace). Pretty good considering the 2-8 start. Let’s look a little closer at the numbers:
Bucks at season midpoint in 2024 (28-13):
CTG – offense 5th, defense 21st, net 9th (+3.3)

CTG – offense 10th, defense 11th, net 10th (+2.6)

Since I posted this, Milwaukee actually moved up a spot to 9th in net rating, according to Cleaning The Glass. Obviously, last year’s defense was largely terrible, with Doc Rivers only able to right the ship to an extent (CTG had them finishing 19th). The offense clicked basically from the season’s tip-off, but recall that the conversation around the Adrian Griffin-led Bucks was that they’d simply outscore opponents rather than play stifling defense. Also, a common criticism was that they got by on their talent alone to beat lesser teams rather than playing solid all-around ball. I don’t miss that, and I think the odd wistfulness some have for the Griffin era makes little sense, especially right now when just four wins separate the two teams.
In this week’s Tuesday Tracker, we want to know if you think this year’s squad is better than last year’s. We also return to the starting two-guard discussion and talk trades again, with the deadline now two weeks away.
As always, this poll will be open until midnight Central on Friday, and we’ll post the results later that day. Thanks for voting!
