Tyler Herro’s place on the Miami Heat is seemingly safe, for now.
The 23-year-old guard was often linked to rumored deals sending Damian Lillard to South Beach. However, the Portland Trail Blazers instead traded Lillard to the Milwaukee Bucks on Wednesday.
Herro addressed his future when responding to a post noting he remains with the Heat after “surviving the final boss of all trade rumors.”
“Until next summer,” Herro wrote.

Herro isn’t upset at seeing one of Miami’s biggest Eastern Conference competitors land the seven-time All-Star.
“In all seriousness… as a kid from Milwaukee, I’m grabbing me a Dame jersey,” Herro stated.

Herro averaged 20.1 points, 5.4 rebounds, and 4.2 assists per game during his fourth NBA season. But he broke his hand in the first game of the playoffs.
With Herro sidelined, the Heat upset his hometown team in the opening round and made the NBA Finals as the No. 8 seed.
Miami’s roster made Herro the logical person to get shopped in a possible Lillard deal. His name seems to pop up anytime the Heat are linked to a star player on the rumor mill.
In fact, the Lillard trade could lead to new speculation involving Herro. ESPN’s Brian Windhorst cited the Heat as a contender who may try to acquire the recently swapped Jrue Holiday from Portland.
