Milwaukee is one of the cities being considered
Well, you can file this under news we didn’t expect to hear today. Per Ricardo Torres of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, the Milwaukee Bucks’ ownership group has submitted a proposal for a new WNBA franchise:

There are other cities in the mix. The article mentions Philadelphia, Austin, Kansas City, Miami, central Florida, Nashville, Charlotte, Denver, and potentially Cleveland as possibilities as well.
There’s no timetable for a decision from the WNBA league office and Bucks team officials have not released any comment.
Women’s basketball has had a history in Milwaukee. The Milwaukee Does were a part of the Women’s Professional Basketball league in 1979-80, but that was its lone year of existence, as it folded shortly after. Immediately after that, the league itself collapsed.
We’ve all seen how the Bucks’ ownership group has explored professional sports opportunities outside of the NBA. Jimmy Haslam is the owner of the Cleveland Browns. He and his wife also own a stake in the MLS’ Columbus Crew. Wes Edens is a co-owner of Aston Villa in the Premier League.
We’ll update this story should any additional information become available.
