Milwaukee keeps the momentum going with another victory
In the second game of a back-to-back, the Milwaukee Bucks prevailed over the Orlando Magic, 122-93. Damian Lillard (30 points) and Giannis Antetokounmpo (26 points) led the way for Milwaukee while Paolo Banchero’s 22 points served as the lead role for the Magic.
A 14-2 run by Milwaukee was fueled by Giannis Antetokounmpo and Damian Lillard. It blew the doors open to an immediate double-digit lead for the Bucks, forcing the Magic to play from a hole early on. Orlando was only hitting air from beyond the perimeter in the opening frame, going just 2/14 in that department. Meanwhile, the Bucks shot 60% from the floor en route to a 34-16 advantage after one.
Milwaukee’s double-digit lead remained intact through two quarters of play. They’d remain shooting at quite the efficient clip, wrapping the half up going 24/40 from the floor, good for 60%. On the contrary, Orlando was shooting at just 31.3%. At the break, the Bucks owned a 62-41 lead. It was a fantastic response from the Bucks after the Magic had sliced the deficit to just 13 points.
There was no slow start to the third quarter in this one. Instead, the Bucks kept the pedal pushed all the way to the floor and exhibited all gas and no brakes. Antetokounmpo and Damian Lillard continued to lead Milwaukee scorers. Bobby Portis and Khris Middleton rounded off the efforts with 14 of their own off the bench through three, solidifying the Bucks’ lead to 92-68 going into the fourth.
From that point on, this one was pretty much all finished. It was only a matter of time before starters were pulled and by that point, there was not a single opportunity for the Magic to even sniff a little bit of the lead. Milwaukee ferociously closed the door and picked up a 122-93 victory.
Stat That Stood Out
For the second consecutive game, we saw the Bucks come out shooting with efficiency. Tonight, it wasn’t so much from the perimeter, but rather from the field as a whole. That 60% from the floor in the first quarter shaped out to be 62.5% at the end of the night. It culminated into a near wire-to-wire victory, as Orlando’s only lead was three points. The ball movement wasn’t as efficient as last night in the assist column, but nonetheless, it popped around enough for there to be continuous scoring. It’s clear that this offense is in a groove right now and it’ll be big to see if it can remain doing so in a game against the Toronto Raptors on Friday night.
