There have been a slew of deals made prior to today’s NBA trade deadline, including one involving veteran guard Patrick Beverley.
Beverley was shipped from the Philadelphia 76ers to the Milwaukee Bucks in exchange for guard Cameron Payne and a 2027 second-round pick. The move reunites Beverley with Doc Rivers, his former coach with the Los Angeles Clippers, and allows him to continue to play for one of the top teams in the Eastern Conference.
If there is one issue with the move, it’s the fact that Beverley says 76ers team president Daryl Morey previously told him he wouldn’t be getting dealt.
On his podcast with Barstool Sports, Beverley says he asked Morey about his status following the team’s game in Denver on Jan. 27, and the longtime executive said he was not on the trading block.

Yikes. The NBA is a business, but this isn’t a great look for Morey considering it’s not the first time one of his players has called him a liar.
At least Beverley is being sent to a good situation. Milwaukee is currently the No. 2 seed in the East, and he has that aforementioned experience with Rivers.
Sure, playing alongside Damian Lillard could be awkward at first, but Lillard swears he will be able to put their longstanding beef behind him for the sake of pursuing a championship.
