Veteran NBA forward Bobby Portis is currently in his fifth season with the Milwaukee Bucks.
Portis is a fixture with the franchise at this point. He’s been a key contributor since joining the team in 2020, and Milwaukee would not have won the 2020-21 NBA championship without Portis’ production off the bench. Still, familiarity and a comfort level with a city doesn’t make one immune to some of the negative aspects of it.
On Sunday afternoon, Portis shared some disturbing news on social media. While he was at the Fiserv Forum for Saturday night’s 114-113 loss to the Cleveland Cavaliers, his home was broke burglarized.
“I consider Milwaukee my home. Last night, while I was at work, my home was burglarized, and many of my prized possessions were stolen. If you have any tips or info, please send them to info@bobbyportis.com. Rewards for info leading to recovery or arrests!” Portis tweeted, alongside a video of himself discussing the incident more in-depth.

In a separate clip in the tweet, Portis shared home security camera footage of the two perpetrators in the act. Both are holding flashlights, and it appears one breaks glass at one point in the video.
Portis did not go into detail what items were taken from his residence, but did says he lost “most of my prized possessions.”
Portis also offered an undisclosed reward for any information pertaining to the crime.
Portis’ home robbery, which occurred while he was playing in a game for the Bucks, is insult to injury in what has been a brutal start to the season for a Milwaukee team expected to contend in the Eastern Conference.
Last night’s loss to Cleveland, which came on a buzzer-beater by Donovan Mitchell, was the Bucks’ fifth in a row. Milwaukee is currently 1-5 heading into tomorrow night’s rematch with the Cavs.
The Bucks are not the only team with high expectations struggling to start the year–the 76ers and Nuggets also come to mind–but they need to pick things up before they dig too big a hole.
