This team again??
The Milwaukee Bucks are halfway through their four-game homestand and look to win their third game in a row as they face the Toronto Raptors. Milwaukee defeated Toronto last Monday by a score of 128-104 and will look to get the season sweep against them.
Where We’re At
The Bucks returned to Milwaukee late Sunday night, licking their wounds after a beatdown handed to them by the New York Knicks. They could be optimistic about having a home stand to right the ship, but I don’t think anyone expected what we saw in the last two games. Milwaukee had no-nonsense victories against the Sacramento Kings (wire-to-wire) and the Orlando Magic. The ease with which these wins against competent teams happened has been encouraging, bolstered by their impressive first quarters. Against the Kings, the Bucks scored 47 points, while Tuesday’s game saw them lead by 18 points after the first. The Magic have been flirting with the four seed despite the injuries to their star players, while the Kings were on a hot streak when they came to Milwaukee. Now, it’ll be necessary for the Bucks to do this against the cellar dwellers too, but as we’ve seen in recent performances against the Nets and Blazers, that is not a guarantee.
Meanwhile, the Raptors are still not a good team, but they’ve gotten healthier and might be clicking. Since these teams’ last matchup 11 days ago, they dropped three more games before beating the Golden State Warriors and somehow the Boston Celtics by 13 points on Tuesday. Such is the NBA that anybody can beat anyone at any moment, but this is still a game the Bucks should win.
Injury Report
Giannis Antetokounmpo, Khris Middleton, and Gary Trent Jr. are probable. Andre Jackson Jr is questionable with the hip contusion he sustained just before half on Wednesday. The Raptors will not have Immanuel Quickley, while Ochai Agbaji is listed as questionable.
Player To Watch
I don’t think we would have expected Ryan Rollins to be part of the rotation at the beginning of the season. Yet here he is, not in the rotation but potentially one of the most critical players from the bench. Rollins can provide some ball handling needed to give Damian Lillard a break, but his defense has been missed when dealing with opposing guards. He’s not expected to fill out the box score, but he has earned his minutes and will continue forcing Jon Horst to make a roster spot available.
