Giannis vs. Wemby
The Milwaukee Bucks notched their first win of 2025 on Monday against the Raptors and return to Milwaukee for a primetime battle against the San Antonio Spurs. The nation will get another fantastic and intriguing battle between Giannis Antetokounmpo and Victor Wembanyama.
Where We’re At
It hasn’t been the best stretch of games from the Milwaukee Bucks, which included questions and concerns around their star players, but they did show on Monday that they can be locked in and show the effort and skill needed to win games they should be winning. The ball was moving as Milwaukee had 37 assists against the Raptors, and the defense was much improved, to the delight of fans. It’s possible that Giannis and Damian Lillard are truly recovering from whatever illness befell them previously, and they are regaining conditioning. It will be interesting to see how the offense looks tonight, as Giannis needed stitches on his right hand on Monday.
Giannis Antetokounmpo needed three stitches on his right hand. He obviously finished the game but it also affected his ballhandling. #Bucks play San Antonio in a couple days. #NBASky

Meanwhile, the Spurs are a much-improved team this year compared to last year. Chris Paul, despite his age, will always raise the floor of a team, as he still is excellent at setting the tempo and getting his teammates in the right spot. The Spurs have a .500 record and impressive wins against the Los Angeles Clippers and Denver Nuggets. They have had some slipups the last few games, but the team is getting closer to being at the level needed to support their star player.
Injury Report
The Bucks have listed Giannis, Andre Jackson Jr., and Khris Middleton as probable with their respective issues. The Spurs will not have Jeremy Sochan, who is out with lower back tightness.
Player To Watch
Victor Wembanyama is a truly special player to watch. The second-year player has improved from an impressive rookie year, and the trajectory for him is something we rarely see from anyone. Wemby has played just over 100 games, and the statistics and numbers he’s posting are disgusting, in a good way. Our friends over at Pounding the Rock put a piece out recently highlighting how good he has been. You should check it out, but one of the graphs that supports how good Wemby is is below. I am very excited to see him and Giannis matchup.
Pick whatever metric you want: Wemby’s aging curve to start his career is hilarious- just a straight line upwards. pic.twitter.com/syQTR79zxf
