Milwaukee tries to improve its pedestrian road record
The Milwaukee Bucks will try to clean up their dastardly road record as they do battle with the Miami Heat tonight. The two teams have a lot of history, matching up in many playoff series over the years. However, tonight will be their first encounter this season.
Where We’re At
The Bucks enter this contest fresh off sweeping all four games of their homestand and having won six of their last seven overall. The four wins came against the Rockets, Bulls, Pacers, and Hornets. By and large, the team seems to have found a real game-to-game comfort and clarity. Guys appear to know when they are coming in, where their shots are going to come from, and what their responsibilities are. Also, Giannis was just named Eastern Conference Player of the Week, so he’s in fine form.
The Heat are also playing well of late, winners of four of their last six games and two straight over the 76ers and Mavericks. According to Cleaning the Glass, Miami sits at fifteenth on offence and twelfth on defence. Interestingly, the Heat have only played fourteen games so far this season compared to the Bucks’ seventeen. So they figure to be relatively fresh heading into the matchup.
Injury Report
Giannis is on the injury report with a new concern (left calf strain) but is listed as probable. MarJon Beauchamp (left hamstring tendinopathy) and AJ Johnson (left Achilles tendonitis) are also probable. Taurean Prince is listed as questionable (illness), while Khris Middleton is out (bilateral ankle surgery).
For Miami, Terry Rozier is probable to return (right foot), while Dru Smith is questionable (right knee).
Player To Watch
After missing four games due to an ankle injury, Jimmy Butler has scored 30 and 33 points in his last two games. Even more impressive (or not, depending on how you look at it) is that he is barely attempting any threes. The majority of his scoring is coming from two-point range and the charity stripe. Butler has shot a combined 29 free throws in the two games since he returned. The Bucks will need to keep their hands out of the cookie jar and not allow the refs any opportunity to call cheap fouls.
