After dropping two straight, Bucks now just sit one game ahead of the Pacers for the no. 4 seed
The Milwaukee Bucks will look to get back into the win column as they head on the road for one game against their division rival in the Indiana Pacers. The Bucks come in 2-0 against the Pacers so far this season, with wins on November 22 and New Year’s Eve, both obviously before the NBA’s trade deadline.
Where We’re At
The Bucks’ run of good form has come to a screeching halt after their games over the weekend. After winning eight of their last nine, they’ve dropped two games in a row, first to a Jalen Suggs-less Orlando Magic team, then losing by double digits to the Cleveland Cavaliers. The Bucks have struggled to get shots up from three-point range, only attempting 23 shots against the Magic, and being held to 9/31 shooting against the Cavs.
The Pacers are playing right around .500 basketball (3-4 in their last 7), but have dropped three in a row to the Atlanta Hawks (twice) and the Chicago Bulls. In that game against the Bulls, they lost by 18 points with Josh Giddey scoring a season high 29 points for Chicago before leaving with an ankle injury. It’s no surprise that they have dropped these last three, considering they have been without their best player in former All-Star point guard Tyrese Halliburton, who has been out with a hip injury. As of now, there is no update on his status to play tonight against the Bucks.
Injury Report
On the Bucks’ side of the injury ledger, Giannis and Dame are both listed as probable. There is some potential that Pat Connaughton (left calf strain) and Pete Nance (left ankle sprain) are finally healthy after being upgraded to questionable. Chris Livingston is out with a non-Covid illness.
The Pacers have not sent in an injury report yet, as they are coming off the second game of a back-to-back, after losing last night to the Chicago Bulls.
Player To Watch
One guy that always seems to be an irritant against the Bucks is the Canadian Andrew Nembhard, who has stepped into the starting lineup in Haliburton’s absence. In his last five games, he’s been averaging 10 points and seven assists per game, while shooting 45.2% from the field on 8.4 shots per game.
