Milwaukee Bucks Announce Injury Diagnosis For Giannis Antetokounmpo

It’s a good thing that the Milwaukee Bucks have already locked up their playoff spot because now they’ll have to finish the regular season without megastar Giannis Antetokounmpo.

According to the Bucks, Giannis suffered an injury to his left calf in yesterday’s win over the Boston Celtics. An MRI revealed that it was a left soleus strain, which the team said will cause him to miss the final three regular season games and necessitate “daily treatment and evaluation.”

“MEDICAL UPDATE: Giannis Antetokounmpo left last night’s win vs. Boston in the third quarter with a left soleus (calf) injury. Antetokounmpo underwent an MRI last night that confirmed the diagnosis of a left soleus (calf) strain. He will miss the remaining three games of the regular season and receive daily treatment and evaluation,” the team said in a statement.

At 48-31, the Bucks have already locked up their division and secured their spot in the playoffs without having to go through the play-in. However, any losses in these final few days could result in a team like the Knicks, Magic or Cavs finishing above them in the standings and dropping them down a seed or two.

And that’s to say nothing of the consequences of getting treatment while being unable to play might have on Giannis’ postseason play.

Better for this injury to happen now than right in the middle of the playoffs, but also better for this injury to not happen at all.

Will Giannis’ injury cause him to miss any playoff games?
