On Monday, the Bucks agreed to a three-year, $186 million contract extension with Giannis Antetokounmpo.
Speaking to the media Tuesday, the two-time MVP made an interesting comment about his latest extension.
Antetokounmpo told reporters that he didn’t even know the exact specifics for his contract with the Bucks. He just agreed to the deal because he wanted to remain in Milwaukee.
“It was the first time in my NBA career I didn’t know the number of my contract. I just signed it because I wanted to be here,” Antetokounmpo said.
Antetokounmpo then asked how long he’ll be under contract with the Bucks.

Antetokounmpo should have a lot more confidence in Milwaukee’s front office, especially since they acquired All-Star guard Damian Lillard in a blockbuster trade with the Trail Blazers. However, it’s hard to believe he signed a deal of this magnitude without knowing the full details.
What we can’t question, however, is Antetokounmpo’s commitment to winning. He has made it abundantly clear that he wants to continue competing for championships. As long as he’s paired with Lillard in Milwaukee, he’ll have a chance to do just that.
The Bucks will tip off their 2023-24 season on Thursday night against the 76ers.
