Former Bucks owner Herb Kohl passed away this Wednesday at the age of 88.
Kohl purchased the Bucks in 1985. It wasn’t until 2014 when he sold the franchise for $550 million.
In addition to being an NBA owner, Kohl was known for being a United States senator for Wisconsin. He was in office from 1989-2013.
The Herb Kohl Foundation confirmed the former U.S. senator’s death. JoAnne Anton, director of giving for Herb Kohl Philanthropies, issued a heartfelt statement on his legacy.
“Throughout his life, Herb Kohl always put people first — from his employees and their families to his customers and countless charitable organizations and efforts,” Anton said, via Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. “Herb Kohl Way isn’t just the name of a street in front of the Fiserv Forum. The Herb Kohl Way perfectly sums up a legacy of humility, commitment, compromise, and kindness to countless people he worked with, served and helped along the way. Those values will live on through his Foundation.”
