A front office insider throws more cold water on Giannis rumors, plus a Hall of Fame journalist and educator.
We have an ESPN (or at least one current ESPN analyst and one alum) twofer these last two weeks on Hear District with friends of the site Marques and Kris Johnson. First off, Naismith Hall of Fame journalist, OG Around The Horn panelist, and current professor at Northwestern’s Medill School of Journalism J.A. Adande drops by and has a neat discussion (at least for people like me) about the state of NBA journalism. Some Kobe and Pat Riley talk before getting into Giannis’ nascent MVP campaign as it stood a couple weeks back. It’s capped off with Marques’ Mailbag.
You can also listen to the episode on bucks.com/plus and the podcast platforms below, where we encourage you to subscribe to Hear District.
This week, ESPN cap guru Bobby Marks chats with the Johnsons, but they don’t focus too much on the Bucks’ cap and apron situation (which you can read more about here). Marks worked his way up in the Nets organization to assistant general manager over the course of 20 years. So there’s some fun history discussion, including names like Willis Reed, but the real highlight was Marks mentioning that his contacts told him that Giannis and Dame were not going to ask for a trade earlier this season as the Bucks struggled. There’s also an interesting Jason Kidd story later on before some video breakdown from Milwaukee’s win over Orlando last week.
