Following a series-ending loss to the Indiana Pacers on Thursday night, Milwaukee Bucks guard Patrick Beverley told ESPN producer Malinda Adams he wouldn’t field any questions from her because she’s not subscribed to his podcast.
“Can you move that mic and get out of the circle for me please, mam? If you’re not subscribed to my pod? Thank you, I appreciate that,” Beverley said.
Obviously, NBA fans were disgusted by Beverley’s behavior. He shouldn’t just ignore media members because they aren’t subscribed to his podcast.
Moments ago, Adams provided an update on this situation. It turns out Beverley reached out and apologized for the way he treated her.
“I want to thank everyone for their kind words and support,” Adams wrote on X. “I am humbled. Patrick Beverley just called me and apologized. I appreciate it and accept it. The Bucks also reached out to apologize. I’ve been in news for over 40 years and kindness and grace always win.”
While people are certainly glad that Beverley called Adams to apologize, that doesn’t erase all the damage that was done. At the end of the day, he was incredibly disrespectful for no reason.
Some people believe the NBA should fine Beverley for his postgame behavior.
“You handled this with a lot of grace. A hefty league fine should still be in order,” Jemele Hill replied.
Ben Cafardo of ESPN said, “Malinda is a well-respected colleague and a true professional. She has our full support.”
Beverley could receive a fine for his actions. We’ll just have to wait and see.
As for Adams, it’s pretty apparent that she knows how to handle tough situations with class.
