Eric Nehm: Before this trip, Bucks coach Doc Rivers told reporters that Damian Lillard might travel with the team. Lillard is not on the trip, but the Bucks have “much more hope today than we did three days ago” regarding Lillard’s return, per Rivers.

“Yeah, we won’t have to double team Kevin. It just means Booker will get more shots. That’s not obviously a good thing, either.”

More on this storyline
Tim Bontemps: Doc Rivers said the reports back on Damian Lillard have been positive, and that he has more hope than he previously did about the star guard returning. He added, however, that the team is preparing as if he isn’t coming back, given they already know how to play with him. -via x.com / April 3, 2025
Because players cannot play on blood thinners, the goal is to clearly diagnose what causes the clotting. Li explained how the process typically would go for a player in Lillard’s situation. “Trying to figure out what caused it and the length of treatment,” Li said. “Whether he needs to be on blood thinners for long-term or short-term. I’m not sure about his recovery and prognosis, but I’m not sure players in the NBA can continue competing at a high level being on blood thinners. Definitely not football, golf is probably OK but being on blood thinners in a contact sport can be pretty risky. Any injuries or heavy contact can cause internal bleeding.” -via New York Times / April 3, 2025
Per Charania, Lillard’s blood clot was identified early, and he began treatment before he was officially diagnosed. Additionally, the guard has been going to weekly doctor’s appointments, and the clot has already decreased in size, leaving doctors “encouraged.” -via Yahoo! Sports / April 2, 2025
