A jaunt through “sports” (and more)
As we reach the halfway point in Deer Diaries (A Milwaukee Bucks Podcast!)’s ongoing Season Preview Series of interviews with the staff of Brew Hoop and beyond, we thought it was a good time for a detour into something a little different. I was very happy to have my co-host Kyle Carr back as we hosted the mind behind the YouTube project Teutonia World to discuss a wide range of subjects around basketball in 2024.
We began with the state of how we personally approach covering the team/sport and the inevitable battle for creative spark and inspiration that comes with doing it for over a decade on a (mostly) voluntary basis. Has the podcast (on our side) or the form of the video essay (on TW’s side) been a welcome change of pace, and indeed a new canvas in which to work on analyzing the Bucks?
From there, we run through a gamut of subjects from the role of myth making in sport, whether player podcasts can save sports media (lol), gambling as a final domino in the evolution of sports coverage, how much would you pay a month to have ALL the sports viewing without restrictions, how we save superhero media (if it needs saving at all), the best uniforms in sports, what makes a good NBA coach in 2024, and, of course, just how far the 2024-2025 Milwaukee Bucks will go.
You can find a version of the podcast on Brew Hoop’s YouTube page (along with snappy image transition editing by yours truly!):
