The all-time great broadcaster can finally add “Deer Diaries guest” to his résumé
All of us behind Deer Diaries (A Milwaukee Bucks Podcast!) have been thrilled with how our 2024-2025 Season Preview Series has gone, culminating last episode in an interview with Lisa Byington. Imagine our excitement when given the chance to have her predecessor on the program to undergo the traditional “Preview” grilling!
Jim Paschke needs no introduction to Bucks fans, regardless of how long you’ve followed the team. Over his 35 years as the franchise’s TV voice of the franchise, he would become synonymous with the action at the Bradley Center and the Forum, capping his career by calling the 2020-2021 title season. While he has stepped back from the daily grind of covering the team, he continues to keep a close eye on basketball’s goings-on both locally and nationally, and his answers to our standard series of questions reflects that.
And, of course, we’d be remiss if we didn’t take the opportunity to ask for a few insights on the team from his experienced perspective. We got into how Giannis Antetokounmpo “pushed” him as a broadcaster, whether the TV crew can sense when a team is out to dominate an opponent from the jump ball, Khris Middleton as the ultimate unsung break-glass-in-case-of-emergency player, and more!
It wouldn’t be Deer Diaries if we didn’t have our guest undergo the Miscellaneous segment treatment, either. So we’re pleased to bring you the debut of Paschke’s Passport.
We sincerely thank Jim for his time, candor, and for being a joy to talk to. Enjoy!
